Abaco Lodge, On the Marls…
The “Marls of Abaco” are situated along the western shore of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas, encompassing a vast swath of prime, wilderness bonefish habitat. The Marls has long been considered one of the most unique and productive fisheries in the Bahamas for its prolific numbers and cooperative fish.
Accommodation
Abaco Lodge sits on Abaco’s west side on the rocky shoreline of the Marls—just north of Marsh Harbour en route to Treasure Cay. The lodge has ten large air-conditioned private rooms with private bath that open onto a spacious back verandah overlooking the Marls. The main dining hall and living room faces the pool, outside fire pit, and patio seating areas. Inside you’ll find a fully stocked bar, sitting room with satellite TV, exquisite dining quarters, and an evolved menu of traditional Bahamian cuisine meets new world culinary achievements. In addition, you can fish all day while staying in touch with home: a computer with high-speed internet is available, as well as a wireless connection, phone service upon request, and the lodge has a new flat screen TV for all the games. The bar is fully stocked with spirits, cold beers, soft drinks, plenty of ice, and a blender and mixers for cocktails.
The shop includes Sage rods, Abel reels, RIO lines, backing, leaders and tippets. You’ll also find a great selection of top producing flies, as well as sunscreen and lip protectors, Mangrove sungloves, dry bags, Costa del Mar polarized sunglasses, tropical-weight long-sleeve fishing shirts, hats, and t-shirts. Pelagic game fish, such as Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna, Mahi-Mahi (Dolphin Fish) and Skipjack Tuna tend to prefer deep blue water, hence the term Blue Water Fishing. The rule of thumb is the deeper the water the bigger the fish. Yet monster fish have been caught just off Nassau Harbour entrance, so it is just a rule of thumb. You never know when or where a big fish will strike. The Chubasco Charters team are prepared to hook you up and boat your big fish except for Billfish which will be released at all times if still alive.
Eleuthera Tours was founded in October 2010. It is owned and operated by Donald and Kristel Anderson. We are fully licensed to do land and boat tours. We have our tour business license, charter fishing license, seafood sales license, and all current health certificates.
Donald was born and raised in Deep Creek, Eleuthera. He started fishing and exploring the waters around South Eleuthera as a very young boy. As he got older, he ventured farther and farther and has done many sea trips to Nassau, Exuma, Andros, Jamaica… He is an accomplished and knowledgeable boatsman. Donald has his Class B captains license.
Kristel has been coming to Eleuthera since 1995 and living full time in Deep Creek since 2006. She was born and raised in New York and at the age of 15 moved to Florida. She has spent much of her life on the beach or the sea. As a young girl she raced sailboats with her father around the waters of Long Island, Block Island, and the west coast of Florida and later spent a good amount of time on power boats fishing and touring. She is a certified PADI SCUBA diver.
We have two boats we use for the tour business. “DA Reef Dancer” is a 26′ Eduardono Panga. “DA Reef Runner” is a 22′ Olympia Sport. Both are center console. DA Reef Dancer has a 200hp Yamaha engine on it. “DA Reef Runner” has a Yamaha 150. Both boats are Bahamian registered with the Port Department.
We love to travel. We go on cruises and we explore on our own. And when we travel, we love to see the “real” parts of the places we travel. We have learned that you get a lot more out of your trip when you have a local person who can explain what you are looking at and take you to places you maybe wouldn’t/couldn’t get on your own. We know what we like when we go on trips and on tours – so we feel we know what you might like and we try to give it to you! When you come with us on one of our tours, you’re part of the family.

Turtle Chase:
In Savannah Sound, Eleuthera, you will
encounter beautiful Hawksbills,
Loggerheads and Green Turtles.
Measure and record data for research, take your picture, catch a kiss and let them back into their habitat.
Mangrove & Spearfishing:
Join us for the wild and crazy experience and the trill of the hunt. You will chase the fish into the mangroves as they try to escape your wrath, with spear in hand.
Run down some of the biggest snappers and mutton fish that fill Savannah’s Sound.
